CC-17 Globemaster III
A CC-17 Globemaster III from 429 Transport Squadron Trenton waits on the flight line in Trapani, Italy, March 22, 2011. The Canadian Forces will use six CF-188 Hornet aircraft to participate in the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1973 (2011). This contribution augments support being provided by Her Majesty's Canadian Ship Charlottetown, which is deployed in the Mediterranean Sea with NATO's Standing Naval Maritime Group 1. 425 Tactical Fighter Squadron is an integral part of NORAD and of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). In peacetime, the squadron's aircraft provide continuous surveillance of the East Coast of Canada. In addition, it must be ready for rapid deployment anywhere in the world in support of contingency operations or NATO.
