C-160D Transall

Großbaustelle Fliegerhorst Wunstorf. Die Transall C-160D ist ein in deutsch-französischer Kooperation entwickeltes und gebautes taktisches Transportflugzeug mittlerer Größe. Aufgrund der Bauweise ist die Transall ausgezeichnet für den Einsatz auf Behelfsflugplätzen, wie zum Beispiel in Afrika üblich, geeignet. Wunstorf ist seit 1978 Heimat des Lufttransportgeschwaders 62. Das Lufttransportgeschader 62 ist der komplexeste fliegende Verband der Luftwaffe. Dem Geschwader sind drei fliegende Staffeln unterstellt, wovon zwei mit der C-160 Transall ausgestattet sind. Die 1. Fliegende Staffel nutzt die C-160 Transall zur Durchführung von weltweiten Lufttransportaufträgen von der Heimatbasis in Wunstorf. Die 3. Fliegende Staffel stellt die Ausbildung der Transall-Besatzungen sicher. Die 4. Fliegende Staffel ist in Bremen stationiert und führt in Zusammenarbeit mit der Lufthansa Flight Training GmbH die fliegerische Grundlagenausbildung der Transportflieger der Bundeswehr .

C-160D Transall

Am Nachmittag des 18. Oktobers landete ein Airbus A310 MedEvac, ausgestattet zur medizinischen Evakuierung, auf dem militärischen Teil des Flughafens Köln-Bonn. An Bord der Luftwaffenmaschine befanden sich 39 lybische Verletzte. Die Transall C-160 bringt die Verletzten nach Berlin. © Bundeswehr/ Ingo Bicker.

AV-8B Harrier

An AV-8B Harrier performs a vertical landing aboard the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) during Bold Alligator 2012. Bold Alligator is the largest amphibious exercise in the past 10 years and represents the Navy and Marine Corps' revitalization of the full range of amphibious operations.
